Transparency

Members of the Georgetown community should be transparent about their use of AI, when disclosure of use is expected by law, university policy (including course syllabi requirements), publisher requirements, or the norms of an academic discipline. Such transparency may require disclosing, as applicable (see examples below): whether a work product was created wholly or partially using an AI tool; how AI was used to create a work product; whether, and to what extent, personal data will be shared with third parties via an AI tool; and what, particularly when the AI tool has been developed by Georgetown, the purpose, structure, and underlying actions of the algorithms employed by the AI tool are.
